I am writing to tell you of my extremely happy and successful experience working with Patrick Taylor during my house search. For more than 5 months, Pat cheerfully showed me every house I asked him to, he educated me about short sales and the local market, and guided me to a sale – the perfect home for me!

My circumstance was difficult – I had a home in Orange County that just was not selling, so many properties in Davis slipped away from me. Pat kept saying I’d find one I liked better, and he was so right! In June, I bought a cute bungalow on Tulip and it is the best fit for me and my giant red-headed roommate, my Golden Retriever Lucy.

Pat really knows his stuff. He knows the workings of the real estate world, he knows the housing market and trends, and, as a local boy, he really knows Davis. This knowledge was so helpful to me. In addition to helping me in my home search, Pat connected me to a painter, handyman, and a gardener – all so useful to a new Davisite.

Pat was always courteous, friendly, over-the-top helpful, and always willing to show me various properties. I took up a lot of his time, yet he never complained. He was truly interested in finding the right home for me – price, yard, neighborhood. His optimism was so encouraging when I thought I’d never get a home in Davis.

"Hello, I’m Heather Jones and our real estate agent, Pat Taylor, ask me to write a testimonial about Pat and the city of Davis. I would highly recommend Pat as your real estate agent. He is very calm, pleasant and on the ball about every aspect of the real estate process. He was my sister’s agent first, and she bought a home in a higher priced area of Davis. I can honestly say that although our home was much more modest (meaning a significantly lower commission for Pat), he gave us the same excellent service never tried to get us to buy a higher-priced home, as so many agents seem to do. Even in a slow market, he was never pushy. We made a low offer on a home, and the seller didn’t come down, so we walked away, and Pat was happy to walk with us. In fact, I was getting more impatient than he was, because I wanted to be in a new home before the school year began, but he encouraged me to wait for the right home to come along. I wanted to make an offer on home on a busier street, he urged me not to, and his quote has gone down in our family history: “I will worry about your daughter riding her bike and playing on this busy street, we’ll get you into a nice neighborhood.” Now, a few months later, we’re in a home in a neighborhood we love on a blocked-off street, and our daughter has just learned how to ride her bike – she loves riding and playing on our quite street.

This is the third home I’ve bought, so I feel like I’ve dealt with all kinds of agents. Some seem to know how to stage a home but can’t answer questions about financial ramifications, or work hard but don’t know a lot about the area or schools. Pat not only answered all my financial questions without wavering, he also gave us a list of contractors for us to interview, and he knew each one personally because he grew up in Davis and used to work in the building industry. He knows all about the schools neighborhoods, and even has opinions on which home developments were built better or worse than others were and was honest enough to steer us away from one house we asked him about.

We’ve really been enjoying the slower pace of Davis since moving from the Bay Area. The Bay Area has a higher cost of living than Davis, so it’s been a relief to live in a safe place with great schools and not spend all our money on our mortgage. The town has a friendly feel, and it’s very, very kid-friendly. The population is much more diverse, both ethnically and economically, than I expected – it feels almost like the Bay Area in that way. We’re slowly learning all the things the university has to offer, figuring out the “greenbelts” and bike paths, and getting involved in our new community. I’m sure your family would love it here.
